Frequently Asked Questions

Please look through the entire list of questions before contacting your agent.

FROM PEOPLE LOOKING TO BOOK A CONCERT WITH AN ARTIST:

Q: HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO BOOK A BAND?
A: Costs vary depending on which Artist you’re interested in, which market you’re in and what type of event you are hosting. Be sure to know what kind of budget you’re working with before contacting your territorial Agent.

Q: HOW MUCH SHOULD I BUDGET FOR ADDITIONAL EXPENSES LIKE AIRFARE, BACKLINE GEAR, PRODUCTION AND CATERING?
A: You will need to research this on your own. Because expenses vary so much from market to market there is no way for us to give you average costs for each expense.

Q: WILL YOUR ARTISTS DO REDUCED-RATE SHOWS OR PERFORM FOR LOVE OFFERINGS?
A: Unfortunately, due to the amount of requests our Artists receive, they are generally not available for these types of performances. Like other ministries, they have clearly defined budgets which they must adhere to.

Q: CAN AN ARTIST PLAY AT MY BIRTHDAY PARTY OR WEDDING?
A: Due to the amount of requests they receive, our Artists cannot accept invitations to play at these types of events. If you are a personal friend of the Artist and have their information, then contact them directly to secure a performance.

Q: DO WE GET A DISCOUNT IF WE ONLY WANT THE ARTIST FOR 1-2 SONGS?
A: When an Artist travels to a date they still have to pay their manager, road manager, sound techs, band members, etc. Whether they play one song, or fifteen, the costs they incur to perform at the engagement are still the same, so unfortunately there are no discounts.

Q: HOW DO I KNOW IF THE ARTIST IS AVAILABLE FOR A CERTAIN DATE?
A: You can view client itineraries on our website by clicking on an Artist’s name. If the date is not listed as being booked, check with your territorial Agent to make sure there are no personal holds for vacations, etc. that are not listed on the website.

FROM PEOPLE MAKING AN OFFER TO AN ARTIST:

Q: HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE FOR ME TO GET A RESPONSE ON MY OFFER?
A: We have no way of predicting when we will get a response from management. If you must have an answer by a specific date, we encourage you to put an expiration date on the offer before you submit it.

Q: WHY CAN’T AN ARTIST STAY WITH HOST FAMILIES FROM MY CHURCH?
A: Artists usually have odd hours and it is easier for them to stay at hotels where they won’t have to inconvenience anyone. Also, with the larger bands and crew traveling together, it is easier for them to all stay at one place.

FROM PEOPLE WHO HAVE A CONFIRMED ENGAGEMENT WITH AN ARTIST:

Q: WHO DO I CONTACT FOR PROMOTIONAL MATERIAL?
A: This varies for each Artist and is usually outlined in the Artist’s rider. If you are having trouble locating the contact person, you may call management for further information.

Q: HOW DO I SCHEDULE INTERVIEWS AND IN-STORE APPEARANCES WITH ARTISTS?
A: If this is not addressed in the Artist’s rider, then you can call management for further details.

FROM PEOPLE WHO ARE ARTISTS/MUSICIANS:

Q: HOW DO I BECOME A CLIENT OF YOUR AGENCY?
A: In order to be considered you must have a record deal with a major label, national distribution and radio airplay. All requests for representation must come from your record label or manager. We do not accept unsolicited material.

Q: ONE OF YOUR ARTISTS IS IN OUR AREA AND I WAS WONDERING HOW I CAN SUBMIT MYSELF OR AN ARTIST THAT I REPRESENT TO BE THE OPENING ACT?
A: You need to contact the promoter. If he/she is interested in having you perform, then the promoter can submit a formal request to our agency. We will forward the request on to management who will make the final decision. DO NOT CONTACT MANAGEMENT DIRECTLY!

REGARDING TERMINOLOGY:

Q: WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A TRACK DATE AND A BAND DATE?
A: A "track date" is one in which the Artist performs to background tracks (no live band.) A "band date" is one in which the Artist performs live with their band. Some of our Artists perform only to tracks, others to tracks or band, and others are bands and don’t have a track option.

Q: WHAT IS BACKLINE GEAR?
A: Backline Gear is essentially all the gear that the band will need in order to perform at an engagement. This varies from Artist to Artist. You can see what the requirements are for each Artist by viewing their Artist rider.

Q: WHAT IS BILLING?
A: Billing refers to how something is going to be advertised. Examples include Headline Billing, Co-Headline Billing, Conference Billing, Festival Billing, Private Engagement (for events that are not advertised), etc.

REGARDING ARTISTS IN GENERAL:

Q: WHERE CAN I GET PERMISSION TO USE ONE OF YOUR ARTIST’S SONGS?
A: You will need to contact the copyright owner or publisher for that particular song. You can usually find that information in the credits for the song. If you are having difficulty, contacting the record label may be helpful.

Q: WHERE CAN I FIND YOUR ARTIST’S MERCHANDISE IF IT’S NOT AT MY LOCAL BOOKSTORE?
A: You may want to ask your bookstore if they can special order the item for you. You may also try checking the Internet at both the Artist’s web site as well as on-line bookstores.

Q: I SEE THAT AN ARTIST WILL BE IN MY HOMETOWN FOR A CONCERT. CAN THEY STOP BY TO VISIT WITH OUR YOUTH GROUP?
A: When an Artist comes to town, they are usually on a pretty tight schedule as far as sound checks, interviews, etc. The best way for your youth group to see the Artist is to bring them to the concert that evening.

Q: HOW DO I GET IN TOUCH WITH ONE OF YOUR ARTISTS?
A: Many Artists have fan clubs that you can join. (Visit the Artist’s website for more information). You can also send letters to the Artist in care of the Artist’s manager. (Again, check the Artist’s website for more information).

MISCELLANEOUS:

Q: WHEN CAN I EXPECT A RETURN PHONE CALL FROM MY TERRITORIAL AGENT?
A: Our Agents work very hard to return calls in a timely fashion. It helps them when you have done your "homework" before calling. Please know what type of budget you’re working with, which dates you’re looking at, and where you plan on having the concert before you call. Knowing this information ahead of time dramatically reduces the amount of "phone tag" that you might play with your agent.
